How to get a Perfect Smokey Eye in 3 Simple Steps

I have been practicing with makeup since middle school, which was before a lot of people my age at the time even wore makeup. Mind you, I was never very skilled at it back then lol. As I got older though, I got a lot better at application. I started teaching myself how to do things by watching videos on YouTube, much like many of you have done before I am sure. Through high school, and especially university, I would get a lot of compliments on my eye makeup. To this day, I still get compliments pretty regularly from people that say “Oh I could never do something like that, I have no idea how you do it”.

If this is you, well trust me when I say, YOU CAN. Honestly, my smokey eye looks are pretty freakin’ simple haha. I just use great products and apply it in a way that blends well and makes my eyes pop. It really doesn’t take that much time either, and you can literally do it in three simple steps. Now. My intention was actually to have a video to post in here with the demo photos, but I done messed up haha. I filmed the video last night after work, or at least so I thought. Come to find out, I must have missed the button when I hit record, because the only video I had from yesterday was of me cleaning up. So, when I thought I was stopping the recording, that was when it started. I’m human, so don’t judge lol. I will film another one and insert it as soon as I can. For now though, I wanted to make sure that I fulfilled my promise on social media from earlier this week to provide instructions on how to do a smokey eye.

Step 1: You start out with a light shade. You can do this with pretty much any eye shadow that you have, whether it be from a palette, loose pigment, cream shadow, etc. It honestly doesn’t matter what kind of shadow you’re using, it will all do the same thing just with different variations in look. This light shade should be something like beige, white, off white, or super light colors that go with the look you’re creating. Use personal preference to determine if you want something shimmer or matte – personally I go glitter all day every day! You will take whatever you have chosen for step one, and apply it directly under your brow to highlight and all over that upper part of your lid. It will be more concentrated right under the brow, and then you just blend it downward. This shade will also be applied in the inner corner of your eye, and the inner half section of your eye lid. In the photo you see to your right, I am using the second shade on the palette for this smokey eye look in neutral browns.

Step 2: This will be a medium shade. Again, you can choose the type of shadow and the Blacks-Silvers
color palette. This shade will be similar to the first shade, but a few tones darker. This part is a bit easier because the application area is far smaller. With this shade, you pretty much just need to continue where you left off with step one. You will apply the second shade to the outer area of your lid right up to the middle, which is where it will meet the lighter shade from step one. Just go over that connecting area with little swiping motions to blend it in a bit. I usually fan this second color up a little bit into the crease as well to provide a base, but that is not necessary because you will be covering it up anyway. To the right you will see me demonstrating palette 2, which is a palette that comes with shades of black, grey, and silver. Here you see me using the second shade down again for the highlighting of step one, and the fourth shade down for this second step. You can see that it is just a couple of shades darker than the highlighting color that I used, and again this one was in shimmer.

Step 3: This is where you will be creating the smokey part of your smokey eye. You will choose a darker color for this step, and you can choose to go really dark or stay relatively toned down depending on your personal preference. For this look I was going for purples, so I chose to opt out of the black as the darkest shade for the crease and go for the second darkest, which was a royal purple. For the first step of this look I used the fourth shade down to highlight, and then the fifth shade for step two. The sixth shade was then applied as a line from the outside corner of my eye heading toward my eyebrow, but you stop about halfway there. You then shade in that v area in the outer corner of your eye, and when you don’t have a lot of product left on your brush, you fan it up and around in that crease of your eye lid. Just go over that area a few times to blend it together, and if necessary you can add a tiny amount of product to the brush to make sure that it actually is visible. If you want, you can also apply this darker shade to the lower lash line, but that comes down to personal preference.

So there ya go ladies! This is how I create super simple smokey-eye looks with different color palettes on a daily basis. The products that were used in these demos are all Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palettes, but you can replicate the same kind of looks with pretty much any palettes that you have on hand! It is quick and easy once you get the hang of it, so give it a try with whatever products you have! If you’re really brave, you can even send in your attempts to I would love to hear about your experience and see how you made out with my tip!

Thanks for reading ladies, I hope you found this useful!

This girl’s new best friend <3

It’s official. I have a new favorite lip stick.

Pretentious is 100% my color!! It is the lip stick equivalent to my favorite lip gloss “lavish”. Anyone that knows me would know that I love pink, and I LOVE glitter when it comes to my beauty routine. I am a huge fan of all of our shimmer products, so when I saw pretentious, I knew I had to have it.

I’m also using Splurge Cream Eye Shadow in noble, dainty, and elegant.I used elegant all over my lid and under my brow, then I used dainty on just the lid, and then I used noble in the crease to create a purple smokey eye look. I also added a bit of noble under the lower lash line on the outer corners, as well as some additional elegant on the inner corners of the eye and under lower lash line there to polish off the look. Of course ALL of my looks are never complete without 3D Fiber Lash Mascara!

You may not know this, but you can actually get THREE Splurge colors of your choosing this month at a discount with our Customer Kudos. Additionally, the Kudos comes with our amazing Shine Makeup Remover Cloths. The Kudos for splurge will end at the end of October, so get it while you can ladies!

Daily Makeup Routine

One of the things that I learned at my previous beauty brand convention is the utter importance of videos. I have decided to put on my big girl panties and get on the video bandwagon. I went out and got an awesome new webcam today because my laptop camera takes awful videos and is an ENORMOUS pain in the butt to position correctly.
I get a lot of compliments on my makeup and people are always asking me how I do it, and also what I use to create the looks that I rock. (Click Here to view some of the other looks I’ve created) In honor of that, and also my new webcam, I decided to do a video to show you exactly what I use to create my “everyday” kind of look. Enjoy ladies!
PS: This is my FIRST video ever… well… that I posted anyway, so go easy on me please lol.
I was SUPER nervous.

Here is a list of all of the products that I discussed, with the proper names:

-Glorious Face and Eye Primer
-Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eye Liner in Pristine
-BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer in Cream (highlight) and Honey (contour)
-Blending Buds
-Mineral Touch Pressed Cream and Pressed Powder Foundation in Scarlet
-Beachfront Bronzer in Sunset
-Moodstruck Precision Pencil Eye Liner in Perfect
Splurge Cream Eye Shadow in Elegant and Tenacious
-Moodstruck Precision Brow Liner and Gel in Dark
Moodstruck 3D+ Fiber Lash Mascara
-Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stain in Skittish

Why is the article written below crossed out? Because it is no longer relevant, as the new and enhanced 3D+ Fiber Lash Mascara is PATENTED, meaning there are no replicas. You can stop being fearful of those awful fake products filled with harsh chemicals, and enjoy the awesomeness that is 3D mascara!!

Click Here to shop and order yours today.

Ladies, PLEASE be careful who you buy your 3D Fiber Lash Mascara from! In one of our local buy and sell groups we found a lady selling the mascara at a discounted price, which we are not permitted to do in the first place as per the presenter’s agreement that we ALL signed upon joining. Come to find out, she isn’t even a Younique rep and she is selling FAKE Younique mascara as though it were authentic!

She claims she just gets the products and then sells them, but her argument is flawed. If she were buying the real stuff, she would actually be LOSING money! If you are in the Fredericton and Oromocto area, be on the lookout for posts by “Shane Doherty Kelsey Collett”, and never purchase product from this woman. It is 100% fake product that she is purchasing off Ebay at a super low price and reselling it to people that don’t know better.

The fake product is FULL of harsh chemicals and junk, while ours is naturally based. In addition, buying that way means you will not get the love it guarantee, and therefore will not be able to return it for a refund if you aren’t satisfied. Even if you don’t mind the harsh chemicals and missing out on the guarantee, I would recommend you avoid this woman and go straight to the source where you’ll be able to get it much cheaper.

How can you tell if it is fake?

There are three ways to tell if your 3D Fiber Lash Mascara is the REAL DEAL. First, check the packaging! If it has plastic covering the entire case, move on to step two, if not – IT’S FAKE. Next, check the back of the case. If it has a barcode, move on to step three, and if not – IT’S FAKE. Lastly, check on the back where it was made. If it says Pleasant Grove, IT’S FAKE! Please be careful where you purchase your mascara, because there are a lot of fakes going around.

The ONLY way to get the real Younique 3D Fiber Lashes is through a Younique Presenter.

Look it up if you don’t believe me!

Red & Blue!

Check it out ladies! I was wearing my navy blue and black striped dress today, so I decided to match my makeup to my outfit. I also got some new goodies in the mail today from my last order, and I wanted to put a few of them to use.

For the lips I used my new Primal lip liner as a matte color all over, and I actually love how vibrant it is and how long it lasts! After taking this picture I actually topped it with Luscious lip gloss to add a bit of shine, and it looked fantastic.

For the eyes I started with a variety of blue Moodstruck Mineral Pigments for a blue smokey eye look. I then used my new Pristine liner for my lower waterline to make my eyes pop, and Perfect liner just above the lash line. The finishing touch is of course always 3D Fiber Lash Mascara! I mean come on, just look at that lash length!! No falsies or extensions, that is all 3d fiber mascara ladies.

Fun blue eyeshadow look!

I purchased a blue dress recently so, naturally, I had to match my makeup to my outfit when I wore it. Ever since I became a presenter with Younique, I’ve gained this pesky habit of matching my makeup to my outfits and to suit holidays lol. I just love it so much, and I have a lot of fun doing it!

I create these looks simply by playing around with different colors. Here is an outline of what I did to create this pretty blue look using Moodstruck Mineral Pigments:

  • I began with curious, and used a dry brush to shade from the lash line to the eyebrow. I then used rosewater on the brush to add drama to the inner corner of the eye.
  • Next I used feisty with rosewater on the brush to coat the entire eyelid.
  • I then used playful about a quarter of the way up from the inner eye all the way to the outer lid. I started with a wet brush, but decide to go over it with dry after.
  • Next I used awestruck with rosewater in the crease, and then went back with dry to blend properly.
  • Lastly, I added a little bit of devious in the outer corner/crease to darken the blue up a little bit.

I topped this look off with our 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, our red lip stain, and luscious lip gloss! I hope you find this useful. Feel free to recreate this look for yourself :)

PS: Our four pack of pigments is on sale until the end of February! Purchase the four pack of Moodstruck Mineral Pigments in this timeframe, and it will be as though you’re buying three and getting the fourth one FREE!
