Are the Karity Palettes as Great as they are Advertised to be?

Alright guys, time for an honest review. A while back I did swatches of my new Karity palettes (frost and matte) and was so excited about trying them out. There was a lot of hype about the brand, and I kept seeing ads about them all over Facebook. I finally bit the bullet and got some, really wanting to love them. I was holding off doing a post about it until I gave them a fair shot. The time has come

1) These shadows have a lot of fallout, even when you tap the excess off the brush. I almost always have to go back in with a little foundation under the eyes to cover up the shadow fallout.

2) If you’re like me and like vibrant colours, you probably wet your brush to get the maximum colour output. Well, I do that with my primer spray. It truly does give great colour output doing it that way, but it makes the shadows really difficult to blend. I think that might also contributed to the creasing that I tend to experience throughout the day.

3) They do not have good staying power. This is evident in my before and after picture. It looks really nice when you first apply, but I noticed halfway through the day at work that the shadows had started to fade and crease. I use an awesome setting spray and I never have this issue with my limelight shadows, so I know it’s not my finishing spray that is the problem lol. You can see how the rest of my makeup still looks normal (minus lipstick because I took that off and switched to lip balm when I got home) whereas the eyeshadow is worn off, creased, and looks terrible.

As much as I wanted to love these palettes because they have an awesome range of colours, I just can’t. The variety is there, but the quality is definitely lacking a bit. Some of the colours stay better than others, like the corals seemed to work better than these blues. Either way, I simply cannot recommend something that I myself have been having difficulty with.

For these reasons, I do not recommend these palettes.

5 Minute Makeup

32699928_1699928060060271_7128104784468377600_nThis photo shows me with the bare minimum of makeup on. Those who know me, know I love to do full glam and have cool eye shadow looks and vibrant lip colours. That doesn’t mean I can’t do more natural! This is me with just foundation, a nude lipstick, brow liner, mascara, and a light amount of brown shadow used as a liner.

Honestly my favourite thing about LimeLife is the confidence that it brings to my life, and the lives of those I am able to touch with this social selling business model.

The high pigmentation enables me to do lighter coverage with my foundation AND stop coating my face with concealer.
My skin has improved leaps and bounds, making me far more comfortable going LIVE for everyone to see without makeup.
I no longer feel the need to go full glam to feel beautiful, and feel totally comfortable with the basics like what you see here.

Best of all, the feedback that I get from other people who have purchased our products and fallen in love like I have fills me up with so much joy 🙌

We are all beautiful, and we ALL deserve to feel that way ❤️

You can catch me LIVE on Facebook showing my “5 Minute Makeup” routine. The video exceeds 5 minutes because I talk a lot, but it only takes 5 minutes when replicated offline.

What we ALL Need to Hear

I shared this on my personal Facebook page, and it resonated with so many people. I had a lot of positive reactions, shares, and comments to show the impact this message was having on those closest to me. I felt this was a message that needed to reach a wider audience, so here it is.

32381054_1700236076696136_9192187301520736256_n

This is amazing ❤️ we are SO hard on ourselves, and sometimes the thoughts that we have about ourselves can be more hurtful than anything anyone else says to us. It is that inner dialogue that we have with ourselves every time we look in the mirror.

When we go clothes shopping.

When we try every outfit we own before leaving the house.

When we do our makeup.

When we are hesitant to do or say anything in fear of being judged.

When we skip out on experiences because we lack confidence.

When we don’t believe in ourselves.

When we think we aren’t good enough.

I could go on and on and on…

What if you challenged this by catching yourself during negative self talk, and flipping it on its head? Imagine how much happier you could be. Mindset is everything, and it’s up to you to change it.

If you are constantly putting out negative energy into the universe, that is what you will get back. When we want to change our life, we have a tendency to focus on the negative. We focus on the things we want to change. The universe doesn’t understand that, and all it understands is you are thinking about your current situation and what you hate, so you get more and more of that. If you instead start focusing on where you WANT to be, that is when the universe will kick in gear and start working to make that happen for you. Manifestation works, you just have to know how to do it correctly!

Print this picture out and put it somewhere you will see it daily. Read it daily. Make it your mission to keep trying to catch yourself during times of self doubt, and forcing yourself to say the opposite even when you don’t necessarily believe it. Write out the positives. Keep a journal and every day I want you to scribble down some things that you aspire to be, only start each line with “I am”.

Do this consistently, and watch your life transform.

Died and went to Lip Gloss Heaven

This month a truly amazing thing happened…. the LimeLife by Alcone lip glosses were successfully launched into Canada!! We have been waiting “patiently” since March 5th for these puppies to come to Canada so that we can get our grubby paws on them.

It finally happened. It is glorious.

Naturally, I felt compelled to do a little photo shoot to capture the beauty of these magical little lip glosses. It doesn’t do them justice at all, but you’ll get the idea.

“So Jessica, apart from how pretty they are, why should I buy these glosses?”

I’m so glad you asked!

  • These glosses smell like DESSERT!! I seriously just want to lick the wand when I am applying these glosses.
  • They go on super easily.
  • They are not at all sticky.
  • Last but not least, my favourite thing about these glosses is the high pigmentation.

If you’ve tried our eyeshadows or our foundation, you will be familiar with the heavy pigment in our products. If this line is new to you, chances are you will be blown away by the pigment in these glosses – especially the darker shades. For example, check me out in this photograph. I am honestly BLOWN AWAY.

This is me sporting our signature lip gloss in “Joy”. It looks like I must have something underneath it, right? Well, I swear to you that I do not have a single thing on under that gloss. No lipstick, no liquid lipstick, no lip stain, no lip liner, zilch, nada, NOTHING. This is a testament to how pigmented these glosses truly are.

Catch the recording of me going LIVE on Facebook to swatch the four gloss shades that I got for free with my party rewards. Shades being swatched are Joy, Love, Peace, and Hope.

Do you Weigh Yourself Daily?

32751453_1699322973454113_3582582794557063168_nHere is some perspective for those trying to lose weight: last Saturday I weighed myself, and I weighed myself again on Monday after a weekend of pigging out on junk.

I was up five pounds

I weighed myself on Wednesday and I was down 4.5 lbs.

I definitely did not lose 4.5lbs in two days lol

If I had weighed myself again after lunch, I’d probably have been up again. Our body fluctuates throughout the day for so many different reasons (sodium intake, water, food, etc) and our weight will reflect that too. The best time to weigh is first thing in the morning before you’ve had food, and after you’ve emptied your bladder.

If you’re the person stepping on the scale obsessively multiple times a day or even just once every day, please do yourself a favour and put the scale out of sight so you won’t be as tempted. Weigh once a week instead to avoid getting frustrated and allowing that to derail you.

Don’t let the number on the scale control you or dictate your worth.
