Living the LimeLife – The Right Way to do Network Marketing

39245813_1831719516881124_6505004063174688768_nI’d like to address some common themes that come up in conversations when people ask me about the LimeLife business. My hope is to clarify and bring understanding where it is new to Canada. There seem to be a lot of misconceptions and unknowns, which I would like to dispel.

First of all, you need to know that LimeLife is unlike any other direct sales company. I’ve had experience with many, and I’ve seen this firsthand. We do NOT allow “kit-napping”, we do NOT offer routine sales or discounted bundles, and we do NOT frequently roll out limited edition items (only for holiday collections). We don’t offer sales constantly in hopes you’ll buy because of the sale this month and fall in love, just like we don’t want you buying it thinking it’s not setting you back much if you don’t like it. We are so confident you’ll love it because it is the best of the best in this industry EVERY month. We want you buying our products because you see their value, you see the affordable pricing for that value, and when you try it you’ll be wondering why you waited so long to get it. That said, we do have a 30 day return and exchange policy… it’s just not used much…

You may not realize it, but offering sales constantly does you a disservice. You either wait for a sale and run out of products you need, or maybe you see a sale and break the bank trying to stock up. We prefer to keep our prices as low as possible every day despite the top notch quality that they bring to make it more affordable for everyone. We do this while keeping prices comparable to other retail brands in our industry, but with superior quality in many cases.

This isn’t a new direct sales business trying to build a brand. This is a professional cosmetics and skincare company that has existed for decades in the professional beauty industry, that is only now being brought to the general consumer through the direct sales model. The proof is in the pudding guys, just look at the beautiful women that have allowed me to give them makeovers to display the power of these products.

In addition, we do NOT allow anything that can negatively impact the LimeLife (and by extension, Alcone) brand. This includes no cold messaging to prospect, no adding people to Facebook groups without their consent, no harassing or begging people for sales, etc. Unlike many companies, these rules are routinely enforced. That said, we have such an abundance of phenomenal training at our fingertips (literally something new Every. Single. Day) that it rarely gets to the point of needing to be enforced.

We’re taught the right way to do business in this industry, and that is critical today with the amount of people totally shut off to network marketing because of all the people out there doing the wrong things. I say that with love and without judgment, because I used to be them. Without proper training, we can all be them. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve had the opportunity to learn since I joined this company because it has truly helped me grow as a business woman, and as a person.

This company and the culture is truly spectacular, and we have a better way. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, please reach out to me. I would love to chat with you, with zero expectations, and simply answer any questions that you may have. Let’s see if living the LimeLife could be what you’ve been searching for <3

Love FREE SHIPPING and Liquid Lipstick?

Where are my liquid lipstick lovers?

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These dropped in Canada this week, and we are so unbelievably excited! There is different lighting in the photos, but the first picture is the most true to shade.

I have two of these already, and they are truly amazing. Reasons why I (and you will) love these enduring lip colours:

1) they are called ENDURING lip colours for a reason… they have awesome staying power
2) the colours are bomb
3) they are so smooth and glide on easily
4) they dry fairly quickly, resulting in less transfer
5) they literally smell like dessert… no joke
6) we have a 30 day return/exchange policy so you can try completely risk free!
7) leaping bunny certified (cruelty-free)
8) Gluten/paraben/nut/corn/soy free
9) Vegan

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the formula was recently IMPROVED. It is now formulated to last even longer, provide deeper colour deposit, and have less transfer! Take a look below at a screenshot I grabbed from a LIVE video our co-founder did showing off the power of the new formula. This transfer test honestly speaks for itself… the new formula is amazeballs and I am dying to get my hands on it!

To sweeten the pot, we have FREE SHIPPING on orders of ANY size through to the end of August. This means you can snag yourself an enduring lip colour by itself without shipping charges. If you’ve had your eye on any other items, this is also your opportunity to tack that on with your ELC to save on the shipping for the entire order!

Are the Karity Palettes as Great as they are Advertised to be?

Alright guys, time for an honest review. A while back I did swatches of my new Karity palettes (frost and matte) and was so excited about trying them out. There was a lot of hype about the brand, and I kept seeing ads about them all over Facebook. I finally bit the bullet and got some, really wanting to love them. I was holding off doing a post about it until I gave them a fair shot. The time has come

1) These shadows have a lot of fallout, even when you tap the excess off the brush. I almost always have to go back in with a little foundation under the eyes to cover up the shadow fallout.

2) If you’re like me and like vibrant colours, you probably wet your brush to get the maximum colour output. Well, I do that with my primer spray. It truly does give great colour output doing it that way, but it makes the shadows really difficult to blend. I think that might also contributed to the creasing that I tend to experience throughout the day.

32267458_1695728907146853_3967500843116134400_n

3) They do not have good staying power. This is evident in my before and after picture. It looks really nice when you first apply, but I noticed halfway through the day at work that the shadows had started to fade and crease. I use an awesome setting spray and I never have this issue with my limelight shadows, so I know it’s not my finishing spray that is the problem lol. You can see how the rest of my makeup still looks normal (minus lipstick because I took that off and switched to lip balm when I got home) whereas the eyeshadow is worn off, creased, and looks terrible.

As much as I wanted to love these palettes because they have an awesome range of colours, I just can’t. The variety is there, but the quality is definitely lacking a bit. Some of the colours stay better than others, like the corals seemed to work better than these blues. Either way, I simply cannot recommend something that I myself have been having difficulty with.

For these reasons, I do not recommend these palettes.

5 Minute Makeup

32699928_1699928060060271_7128104784468377600_nThis photo shows me with the bare minimum of makeup on. Those who know me, know I love to do full glam and have cool eye shadow looks and vibrant lip colours. That doesn’t mean I can’t do more natural! This is me with just foundation, a nude lipstick, brow liner, mascara, and a light amount of brown shadow used as a liner.

Honestly my favourite thing about LimeLife is the confidence that it brings to my life, and the lives of those I am able to touch with this social selling business model.

The high pigmentation enables me to do lighter coverage with my foundation AND stop coating my face with concealer.
My skin has improved leaps and bounds, making me far more comfortable going LIVE for everyone to see without makeup.
I no longer feel the need to go full glam to feel beautiful, and feel totally comfortable with the basics like what you see here.

Best of all, the feedback that I get from other people who have purchased our products and fallen in love like I have fills me up with so much joy 🙌

We are all beautiful, and we ALL deserve to feel that way ❤️

You can catch me LIVE on Facebook showing my “5 Minute Makeup” routine. The video exceeds 5 minutes because I talk a lot, but it only takes 5 minutes when replicated offline.

Died and went to Lip Gloss Heaven

This month a truly amazing thing happened…. the LimeLife by Alcone lip glosses were successfully launched into Canada!! We have been waiting “patiently” since March 5th for these puppies to come to Canada so that we can get our grubby paws on them.

It finally happened. It is glorious.

Naturally, I felt compelled to do a little photo shoot to capture the beauty of these magical little lip glosses. It doesn’t do them justice at all, but you’ll get the idea.

“So Jessica, apart from how pretty they are, why should I buy these glosses?”

I’m so glad you asked!

  • These glosses smell like DESSERT!! I seriously just want to lick the wand when I am applying these glosses.
  • They go on super easily.
  • They are not at all sticky.
  • Last but not least, my favourite thing about these glosses is the high pigmentation.

32837217_1701345236585220_2885502425525911552_n

If you’ve tried our eyeshadows or our foundation, you will be familiar with the heavy pigment in our products. If this line is new to you, chances are you will be blown away by the pigment in these glosses – especially the darker shades. For example, check me out in this photograph. I am honestly BLOWN AWAY.

This is me sporting our signature lip gloss in “Joy”. It looks like I must have something underneath it, right? Well, I swear to you that I do not have a single thing on under that gloss. No lipstick, no liquid lipstick, no lip stain, no lip liner, zilch, nada, NOTHING. This is a testament to how pigmented these glosses truly are.

Catch the recording of me going LIVE on Facebook to swatch the four gloss shades that I got for free with my party rewards. Shades being swatched are Joy, Love, Peace, and Hope.

Newfound Must-Have for Self-Tanning Regulars!

Do you get spray tans or use self tanning products?

I had an experience this weekend, and I felt like I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t share.

So I am super pale, and I’m normally okay with it. Once in a while though if I’m going out, I do like to have some color. The problem is, I’ve never been able to get a really nice, even look with self tanners before. I was going out for St Patrick’s day this weekend, so I wanted to try again.

29342243_1641735865879491_7188632036289019904_nI took the LimeLight bamboo renew product in the bath and used it all over my body – except face and neck. It helped to exfoliate my skin and made it feel super smooth and soft. Then I went in with my Fake Bake self tanner, and for the first time, it went on super evenly! Often I used to get spotting because of dry skin areas and it would look horrible, and this time it looked super good.

If you’re into self tanner, or even spray tans, this is definitely a must have!

St. Patrick’s Day Makeup

29257658_1639607176092360_110750791198834688_n

Anyone that knows me, knows that I like to go all out for holidays. I tend to show up for work dressed for the occasion, and St. Patty’s Day was no exception! I got some laughs and some funny looks, but it was all in good fun.

All products used for this look – with the exception of the green shadows – were LimeLight by Alcone products. As for the green shimmery shadows, those were Mica Bella shadows. I used three different shades to create the eye look, and just one shade of the shadow to create that shimmery green lip color. The lips turned out like a metallic liquid lipstick, and I love how it ended up filling out the look!

How to recreate the look:

I always start by moisturizing and priming my face. I use Must Dew to moisturize, and First Base Primer to prep my face for makeup. Then I go in and apply my foundation, and concealer to highlight. I do my brows next, and clean up around the brows with concealer. Once that step is done, I’m ready to go in with my bronzer, blush, and translucent powder.

Once the face is good to go, I then move to the eyes. I applied all of my shadows with a little spritz of primer on my brushes to maximize the color impact. I used a lighter shade of green to apply it all over my lid and in the center of the lower lash line. Once most of the color was on the lid, I gently blended it upward a bit. Then you take the slightly darker green and apply that with a new brush to the outer corner of the eye, and blend inward about halfway across the lid.

29249344_1639607232759021_1184252230174244864_n

Again once most of the product is where you want it, blend upward slightly and in and around the crease. Next you take a really dark green using a fine crease brush and apply it basically in an outward V where your winged liner goes. Blend that inward a bit, and up and around the crease. You take that shade along the bottom lash line until it meets the other shade you applied earlier, and blend. Lastly, you can take a yellow to the inner corner of the eye and the beginning of the lower lash line. This last step is optional, but I liked the way it turned out. After you’re done all of these steps, you want to go back in and just make sure everything is well blended.

Once you are satisfied with the shadow look, it’s time for the stars of the show. You first go in with your liquid liner to line the lash line, and then do your wing. Next up is mascara, and I usually do two coats for more drama. If you feel the light green got overpowered on the lid, you can go back in on the inner corner of the lid with that light green shade.

PRO TIP: If you made a mistake with the liner, you can go in with your concealer to fix your line. You will want to use a good concealer brush for this so that you can be precise.

PRO TIP: If you accidentally got mascara on the shadow, leave it there for a minute and let it dry. Then take a brow brush or spoolie and gently brush over the spot of mascara. It will pull off the mascara without wrecking your makeup!

This metallic lip color was actually super simple to create. I basically just applied my nude lipstick to prime my lips and give the loose shadow something to cling to. Then I just went in with my middle green shadow color and applied it with a damp brush on top of the lipstick. I applied my finishing spray to finish out the look, and it did have pretty decent staying power. I had to reapply the shadow a bit in the afternoon after eating an apple, but that is to be expected when you have shadows on your lips and you eat something like that.

I just love the way this look turned out! If you decide to recreate it, come back and share your results! I’d love to see other approaches.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The Difference Between “Luxury Cosmetics” and Professional Cosmetics

I would like to start out by saying I honestly did love my old makeup. I had no idea that there was a problem until this week when I decided to slap a before and after together, and holy smokes… Mind. Blowing. This totally validates my decision to join the LimeLight family.

29216979_2050637638483775_3594829760657620992_n.jpgPicture 1: This is from about a month or so before I started using Limelight products. Note that my foundation was definitely too dark or had oxidized (I used the lightest shade available in the line), and note how big my pores look.  Go on, zoom in a little and you’ll really see it.

I used a primer always, yet still hated the end result in photos because I could see all the little bumps. I had stopped taking selfies as much since last August because I thought it was because of my new phone, which is a much smaller screen and therefore had a smaller camera. I didn’t notice anything I didn’t like in the mirror, so when I was seeing it in my phone, I assumed it HAD to be the phone…

Picture 2: This is WITHOUT a primer – just LimeLight foundation and a small amount of concealer in a few spots to highlight. I finally have a shade light enough for my skin, and my skin looks FLAWLESS – no more visible pore bumps. Putting these photos side by side blew my mind because it was only in that moment that I realized the problem hadn’t been my camera all along – the problem was my foundation.

ZERO editing done to both images (except for putting the pictures together and the text additions of course).

You guys…

THIS is the difference that professional products makes.

THIS is why I decided to join this company.

And this is why I can’t wait for you to be introduced to these amazing products.

If you haven’t already, please RSVP to my launch event! I, along with two other power-houses, will be going LIVE to demonstrate the application of these products. Andrea will be walking you through the importance of a great skincare routine, Nikki will be walking you through everything to do with your complexion, and I will be walking you through beautiful eye makeup for both day and night!

I hope to see you there :)

Why you Need LimeLight by Alcone’s Botanical Foundation in your Life!

7803d8bc41e29c8904afb049d9d099e1

The LimeLight by Alcone botanical foundation was designed for professional makeup artists. This is the TOP selling professional foundation in the world, and it has existed for over 50 years. It will give you FULL coverage and a smooth, even complexion without absorbing into your skin. This means it will not break you out or cause a reaction because it has been formulated to be non-comedogenic.

Typical foundations that you can purchase in stores are about 8-22% pigmentation, and this stuff is 50% pigmentation. 8% pigmentation is basically your BB cream, lower coverage type of foundation. 22% pigmentation is about the fullest coverage you are going to get from a retail setting. When you use LimeLight by Alcone Botanical Foundation with the 50% pigmentation, you are going to need a lot less product to achieve an even complexion and the look that you are striving for.

You would use half as much product, or less, with this foundation as other foundations you have tried in the past. You should start by toning it way back, and gradually add more product if needed. To help you transition to using less product, you can try using a fluffy powder brush to apply instead of a beauty blender or a buffer brush. This method is perfect for beginners!

You may be wondering… “What if a wax based foundation doesn’t work for my skin type?”

Your skin type is irrelevant. As I stated above, this foundation has been formulated for professional makeup artists. As such, the botanical foundation has specifically been formulated to work with EVERY skin type. That ranges from super dry to super oily skin types, so no matter where you fall on that spectrum, you will be able to use this specific foundation. That being said, let’s look at each:

DRY: If you have skin that is excessively dry, there are things you can do to help with that. It is important that you exfoliate your skin regularly to clean up some of that dead skin cells. Otherwise, if you have a lot of dry skin patches it will not matter what type of foundation you are using, you will find that you notice those spots more. You should also be moisturizing your skin prior to applying the foundation. Lastly, you can use the “10 Years Younger” finishing spray to finish off your look and set your makeup.

OILY: In contrast, if you have oily skin you will likely want to pair your foundation with a pressed powder. It is really important that you use a translucent pressed powder with this foundation as opposed to a pigmented powder. The botanical foundation is highly pigmented already, so you do not need more pigment on your face. You also want to be careful that you don’t use a product on top of the foundation that might cause an oxidation issue. Lastly, you can leverage the “Oil Strike” setting spray to finish off your look. This is a phenomenal product, and if you start to get oily throughout the day it will actually stop the oil production in your face for that day.

Because you need so little product for each application, one foundation pan could last you between four and six months. This varies depending on your usage, and if you’re a makeup every day person or an occasional wearer. In general, people who wear makeup 5-7 days out of the week will get between 5 and 6 months out of their foundation. You will not find another foundation of this quality, for this price, that will last you this long in any department stores!

Do you have blemishes or dark circles that you really want to cover? If the answer here 37e4196542989e3d24f8d38448e162a9is yes, you should consider getting the custom palette with a foundation and two concealers. This saves you money off the total, and you’ll be able to use a concealing concealer on those difficult areas as well as have a brightening concealer for a bit of highlighting. Alternatively, you could also do a highlighting and contouring concealer. Once again, you need very little product for full coverage, so one concealer pan will last you a long time.

This foundation has been formulated to last all day, while maintaining a healthy glow. It is super lightweight and gives you a natural sheen as thought you aren’t even wearing makeup. Because you use such a small amount of product, you barely notice it is there.

If you go ahead and try the products, make sure that you moisturize your skin before applying the foundation if you are choosing not to use a primer. That being said, if you usually use a silicone primer, it will NOT work with this foundation. What I mean by this is the clear looking gel primers that make your skin feel super soft. This will not work under this foundation because it creates a layer on the skin that keeps it from setting properly, which results in transfer. If you want to use a primer, you should ensure that you are using a spray primer.

If you are considering trying out these products, start by asking yourself some questions:

  • What issues do you have with your skin?
  • What are you looking to do with your makeup?
  • What issues are you having with your current makeup?

Once you have answers to these questions, bring them to your Beauty Guide to have them help match you with the right product(s) for you. If I am the first Beauty Guide to expose you to these awesome products, I would be more than happy to help match you! I can also help with color matching, and all I need is whether you burn or tan more easily and a picture of you in natural light. Simply use the contact form above and I can get you some help!
