Why you Need LimeLight by Alcone’s Botanical Foundation in your Life!

7803d8bc41e29c8904afb049d9d099e1

The LimeLight by Alcone botanical foundation was designed for professional makeup artists. This is the TOP selling professional foundation in the world, and it has existed for over 50 years. It will give you FULL coverage and a smooth, even complexion without absorbing into your skin. This means it will not break you out or cause a reaction because it has been formulated to be non-comedogenic.

Typical foundations that you can purchase in stores are about 8-22% pigmentation, and this stuff is 50% pigmentation. 8% pigmentation is basically your BB cream, lower coverage type of foundation. 22% pigmentation is about the fullest coverage you are going to get from a retail setting. When you use LimeLight by Alcone Botanical Foundation with the 50% pigmentation, you are going to need a lot less product to achieve an even complexion and the look that you are striving for.

You would use half as much product, or less, with this foundation as other foundations you have tried in the past. You should start by toning it way back, and gradually add more product if needed. To help you transition to using less product, you can try using a fluffy powder brush to apply instead of a beauty blender or a buffer brush. This method is perfect for beginners!

You may be wondering… “What if a wax based foundation doesn’t work for my skin type?”

Your skin type is irrelevant. As I stated above, this foundation has been formulated for professional makeup artists. As such, the botanical foundation has specifically been formulated to work with EVERY skin type. That ranges from super dry to super oily skin types, so no matter where you fall on that spectrum, you will be able to use this specific foundation. That being said, let’s look at each:

DRY: If you have skin that is excessively dry, there are things you can do to help with that. It is important that you exfoliate your skin regularly to clean up some of that dead skin cells. Otherwise, if you have a lot of dry skin patches it will not matter what type of foundation you are using, you will find that you notice those spots more. You should also be moisturizing your skin prior to applying the foundation. Lastly, you can use the “10 Years Younger” finishing spray to finish off your look and set your makeup.

OILY: In contrast, if you have oily skin you will likely want to pair your foundation with a pressed powder. It is really important that you use a translucent pressed powder with this foundation as opposed to a pigmented powder. The botanical foundation is highly pigmented already, so you do not need more pigment on your face. You also want to be careful that you don’t use a product on top of the foundation that might cause an oxidation issue. Lastly, you can leverage the “Oil Strike” setting spray to finish off your look. This is a phenomenal product, and if you start to get oily throughout the day it will actually stop the oil production in your face for that day.

Because you need so little product for each application, one foundation pan could last you between four and six months. This varies depending on your usage, and if you’re a makeup every day person or an occasional wearer. In general, people who wear makeup 5-7 days out of the week will get between 5 and 6 months out of their foundation. You will not find another foundation of this quality, for this price, that will last you this long in any department stores!

Do you have blemishes or dark circles that you really want to cover? If the answer here 37e4196542989e3d24f8d38448e162a9is yes, you should consider getting the custom palette with a foundation and two concealers. This saves you money off the total, and you’ll be able to use a concealing concealer on those difficult areas as well as have a brightening concealer for a bit of highlighting. Alternatively, you could also do a highlighting and contouring concealer. Once again, you need very little product for full coverage, so one concealer pan will last you a long time.

This foundation has been formulated to last all day, while maintaining a healthy glow. It is super lightweight and gives you a natural sheen as thought you aren’t even wearing makeup. Because you use such a small amount of product, you barely notice it is there.

If you go ahead and try the products, make sure that you moisturize your skin before applying the foundation if you are choosing not to use a primer. That being said, if you usually use a silicone primer, it will NOT work with this foundation. What I mean by this is the clear looking gel primers that make your skin feel super soft. This will not work under this foundation because it creates a layer on the skin that keeps it from setting properly, which results in transfer. If you want to use a primer, you should ensure that you are using a spray primer.

If you are considering trying out these products, start by asking yourself some questions:

  • What issues do you have with your skin?
  • What are you looking to do with your makeup?
  • What issues are you having with your current makeup?

Once you have answers to these questions, bring them to your Beauty Guide to have them help match you with the right product(s) for you. If I am the first Beauty Guide to expose you to these awesome products, I would be more than happy to help match you! I can also help with color matching, and all I need is whether you burn or tan more easily and a picture of you in natural light. Simply use the contact form above and I can get you some help!

Why does my makeup leave a dark line around my face throughout the day?

Have you ever had that experience where you apply your makeup in the morning and your foundation seems to match your skin tone perfectly, and then later in the day it gets darker and darker?

This is oxidation, and it can cause an orange or yellow-ish looking line around your face where your foundation stops.

vJ3L3onOxidation is a chemical reaction that occurs when in contact with oxygen and the natural heat from your skin. Apples turn brown when exposed to oxygen, and your foundation can do something similar. Throughout the day, it can become a shade or two dark if it oxidizes. The picture to the left is an example of two different shades of foundation and what they look like when oxidized. The bottom shows freshly applied, while the top shows oxidized.

If you want to avoid this type of reaction, you should be looking for a non-comedogenic foundation like LimeLight by Alcone’s botanical foundation. The botanical foundation has been formulated NOT to oxidize, so if you apply it alone it will not oxidize throughout the day and cause your makeup to turn colors. That being said, if you add another product with pigmentation to it, then it could oxidize throughout the day and cause that orange foundation line from the other product. You definitely do not want that to happen to you.

If you need to use a powder on top of your foundation, you can use a translucent powder. This will give you the matte look you are after and help set your foundation, and it will keep your makeup from oxidizing. If you are new to hearing about the botanical foundation, you can learn more about it here.

How to get a Perfect Smokey Eye in 3 Simple Steps

NEW BLOG POST!

I have been practicing with makeup since middle school, which was before a lot of people my age at the time even wore makeup. Mind you, I was never very skilled at it back then lol. As I got older though, I got a lot better at application. I started teaching myself how to do things by watching videos on YouTube, much like many of you have done before I am sure. Through high school, and especially university, I would get a lot of compliments on my eye makeup. To this day, I still get compliments pretty regularly from people that say “Oh I could never do something like that, I have no idea how you do it”.

If this is you, well trust me when I say, YOU CAN. Honestly, my smokey eye looks are pretty freakin’ simple haha. I just use great products and apply it in a way that blends well and makes my eyes pop. It really doesn’t take that much time either, and you can literally do it in three simple steps. Now. My intention was actually to have a video to post in here with the demo photos, but I done messed up haha. I filmed the video last night after work, or at least so I thought. Come to find out, I must have missed the button when I hit record, because the only video I had from yesterday was of me cleaning up. So, when I thought I was stopping the recording, that was when it started. I’m human, so don’t judge lol. I will film another one and insert it as soon as I can. For now though, I wanted to make sure that I fulfilled my promise on social media from earlier this week to provide instructions on how to do a smokey eye.

Browns-Neutrals

Step 1: You start out with a light shade. You can do this with pretty much any eye shadow that you have, whether it be from a palette, loose pigment, cream shadow, etc. It honestly doesn’t matter what kind of shadow you’re using, it will all do the same thing just with different variations in look. This light shade should be something like beige, white, off white, or super light colors that go with the look you’re creating. Use personal preference to determine if you want something shimmer or matte – personally I go glitter all day every day! You will take whatever you have chosen for step one, and apply it directly under your brow to highlight and all over that upper part of your lid. It will be more concentrated right under the brow, and then you just blend it downward. This shade will also be applied in the inner corner of your eye, and the inner half section of your eye lid. In the photo you see to your right, I am using the second shade on the palette for this smokey eye look in neutral browns.

Step 2: This will be a medium shade. Again, you can choose the type of shadow and the Blacks-Silvers
color palette. This shade will be similar to the first shade, but a few tones darker. This part is a bit easier because the application area is far smaller. With this shade, you pretty much just need to continue where you left off with step one. You will apply the second shade to the outer area of your lid right up to the middle, which is where it will meet the lighter shade from step one. Just go over that connecting area with little swiping motions to blend it in a bit. I usually fan this second color up a little bit into the crease as well to provide a base, but that is not necessary because you will be covering it up anyway. To the right you will see me demonstrating palette 2, which is a palette that comes with shades of black, grey, and silver. Here you see me using the second shade down again for the highlighting of step one, and the fourth shade down for this second step. You can see that it is just a couple of shades darker than the highlighting color that I used, and again this one was in shimmer.

Pinks-Purples

Step 3: This is where you will be creating the smokey part of your smokey eye. You will choose a darker color for this step, and you can choose to go really dark or stay relatively toned down depending on your personal preference. For this look I was going for purples, so I chose to opt out of the black as the darkest shade for the crease and go for the second darkest, which was a royal purple. For the first step of this look I used the fourth shade down to highlight, and then the fifth shade for step two. The sixth shade was then applied as a line from the outside corner of my eye heading toward my eyebrow, but you stop about halfway there. You then shade in that v area in the outer corner of your eye, and when you don’t have a lot of product left on your brush, you fan it up and around in that crease of your eye lid. Just go over that area a few times to blend it together, and if necessary you can add a tiny amount of product to the brush to make sure that it actually is visible. If you want, you can also apply this darker shade to the lower lash line, but that comes down to personal preference.

So there ya go ladies! This is how I create super simple smokey-eye looks with different color palettes on a daily basis. The products that were used in these demos are all Younique Moodstruck Addiction Shadow Palettes, but you can replicate the same kind of looks with pretty much any palettes that you have on hand! It is quick and easy once you get the hang of it, so give it a try with whatever products you have! If you’re really brave, you can even send in your attempts to jessica@fitnessbeautytravel.com. I would love to hear about your experience and see how you made out with my tip!

Thanks for reading ladies, I hope you found this useful!
